- Make ready 250 GmsKarela
- Prepare 2 Medium Size Onions
- Prepare 1/2 Tsp Anise/Saunf
- Prepare 3-4 Pods Garlic/Lehsun

- Get Salt 1 For boiling karele and 1/2 Tsp around for masala
- Take 1 Tsp +1/2 Tsp Turmeric

- Get 1 Tsp Amchur / Dry Mango Powder
- Make ready 5-6 Tbsp Mustard Oil / Sarson ka tel
Instructions to make Bharwa Karela:
- Take the karela, peel and cut from the center only as shown.
- Add salt and turmeric in a pan in water with the karela and boil on medium heat till they are 80 percent boiled.
- Grind Onions, saunf, cloves and garlic.
- Add sarson/ mustard oil and heat till its smoky, and add the onion paste. Add salt and keep mixing well on medium flame.
- Add all the dry masalas like turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, amchur powder. Keep stirring well and saute till the masala is cooked well and dry.
- Stuff the karela and tie them with a white thread.
- Add sarson /mustard oil in a pan and heat till smoky. And place the karela in the pan.
- Cover with a plate and keep a heavy vessel so that it presses and the bottom is done well.
- Once the bottom side is done turn the karela and now cook the other side too. As our karela are already boiled and cooked well, it wont take much time.
- Serve with chapati / paratha. Can be stored in refrigerator for 7-8 days.
