  1. In spice mixer,add nutmeg,mace,black peppercorns,black cardamom and grind well. Add ginger,garlic,green chilies,water and grind to make a paste & set aside.
  2. In pot,add cooking oil,onion and fry until light golden. -Add cumin seeds,cinnamon sticks,black peppercorns,cloves,green cardamom and mix.
  3. Now add grinded paste and mix well.Add tomatoes salt,red chilli powder and mix well for 2 minutes.
  4. Add yogurt and mix well. -Add chicken stock cube,mint leaves and mix well. -Add water,mix well and bring it to boil.
  5. Add chickpeas and rice,mix gently and bring it to boil. -Cook on medium high flame until water is reduced (8-10 minutes). -Cover and steam cook on low flame for 5-8 minutes & serve! Special Chana pulao is ready😍

Earlier I used to make this pulao in my traditional pressure cooker on stovetop. It requires minimal ingredients (just rice, chickpeas, onions and oil) and a small handful of aromatic whole spices which you'll probably have on hand if Chana Pilau to me has always been one of those rice dishes that is delicious on it's own and also goes with anything. Serve it alongside any curry, any. I hadn't ever contemplated making chickpeas with rice.
